What is soft-shell?

Think of this fabric as the ultimate performance sandwich. We’ve bonded three distinct layers into one single, stretchy material. It’s tough enough to block wind and light rain on the outside, but smart enough to let your body breathe from the inside, all while feeling soft and cozy against your skin.

Instead of wearing a bulky sweater and a stiff raincoat, a 3-layer softshell combines those functions into one comfortable piece of gear. It is designed for when you are active outdoors—hiking, cycling, or working—and you need protection from the elements without overheating and getting clammy from your own sweat.

The 3-Layer Sandwich:

1. The Outer Shield (Protection): A durable, stretchy woven layer coated with a water-repellent finish.

• What it does: Bounces off rain showers and snow, blocks chilly wind, and resists tearing if you brush against a rock or tree branch.

2. The Middle "Magic" Membrane (Breathability): A super-thin, high-tech film hidden in the middle.

• What it does: The crucial layer. It stops wind from getting in, but allows the vapor from your sweat to get out. This keeps you dry from the inside out.

3. The Inner Liner (Comfort): Usually a soft, brushed fleece or grid pattern.

• What it does: Provides warmth next to your skin and actively pulls moisture (sweat) away from your body towards the membrane so it can evaporate.
